Autism as a Nature Deficit Disorder?

There has been talk that autism can be linked in some way (causation or merely exacerbation) by lack of exposure to nature. I doubt that merely staying inside is a cause of autism (this is especially true because I believe it is genetically-based). Still, if an ASD kid is pre-disposed to turn inward and ponder trains or machines, getting the little tyke out into nature is a good idea.

To that end, why not get a Chia Pet and bring some nature inside! Sometimes, you just have to get silly. Here is our Chia Shrek (the little guy is in love with Shrek right now, so . . .).



If your kids don't like Shrek, there are lots of different Chias to choose from, including a Chia Obama!!!
